FAQ for Plumbing Companies

How your listing got here, what it says, and how to change it.

Every listing on this site is built from an official state licensing roster. If something about yours looks wrong, the answer is almost always that it matches your record with the licensing board - which means the board is where it gets fixed.

Anything not covered below: get in touch, or read our data sources page for the full methodology.

Common questions

How did you get my company details?

From the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners's published RMP roster, which the board makes available for public download. We did not buy it or scrape it from another directory.

Why does my listing show no phone number?

Because the roster has no phone number for your licence - about half of Texas rows do not. Add one with the licensing board and our next daily import will pick it up.

Why does my listing show my licensee name instead of my company?

Ten Texas rows leave the company field blank. When that happens we fall back to the licensee name so the listing is not nameless. Fill in the company field with the board to fix it.

My licence shows Expired but I renewed it.

Our roster copy is a daily snapshot, so a renewal after our last import will not show yet. The state’s live lookup is authoritative in the meantime, and we link to it from every listing.

Do you publish my street address?

No. The roster includes it, and we drop it at import. For sole traders it is usually a home address, and it does nothing to help a customer verify a licence.

Can I pay for better placement?

No. Listings are alphabetical within a city and there is no paid placement anywhere on the site.

A competitor is listed who I know is not licensed.

Then they are on the state roster, because that is our only source. Report it to the licensing board - they are the ones who can act on it.
