Use the site freely. Just understand what the data is and is not.
What this site is
ThePlumber.work republishes public licensing rosters and adds editorial guidance. We are not a plumbing company, a broker, or a lead-generation service, and we do not dispatch anyone.
What the data can and cannot tell you
A licence record tells you that a company met the state's licensing requirement as of our last import. It does not tell you they will do good work, quote fairly, or turn up. Treat it as a floor, not a recommendation.
Our roster copy is a daily snapshot and can lag the state's live record. For anything consequential, confirm against the issuing authority's own lookup - we link to it from every listing and from the licence checker. Details of our refresh cadence are on the data sources page.
No endorsement
Appearing in this directory is not an endorsement. Companies appear because they are on a state roster, not because they asked or paid. There is no paid placement.
Not affiliated with any licensing board
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised to speak for any state licensing board. Where we describe a state's rules we link to the authority so you can check.
Not professional advice
Guides and cost pages are general information for homeowners, not engineering, legal, or code advice for your specific property. Permit rules in particular are set locally and change - confirm with your city before relying on anything here.
Liability
The site is provided as is. We work hard to keep it accurate and we fail our own build when data goes stale, but we cannot warrant that every record is correct at the moment you read it - which is exactly why every listing links to the authoritative source.
Acceptable use
Read it, link to it, quote it with attribution. Do not bulk-scrape it - the underlying rosters are published by the states themselves and you should take them from the source, which we link to on every relevant page.
